Meet the People behind our retail POP display and packaging design creativity and global resources
Phil is the CEO of TPH Global and has served in this capacity since 1996. Phil joined the company in 1980, beginning his tenure in the sales department. He took the reigns of leadership prior to the retirement of his father, Aaron Schmidt, who founded the business as “The Packaging House” (TPH) in 1965 and who served as Chairman at that time.
Born in Chicago, Phil entered the packaging field after spending four years at Arizona State University, where he earned a BS in Marketing.While working for TPH, Phil earned an MBA from Loyola University in 1989.
Phil has been a longtime member of POPAI, which has merged with Shop!, Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO) and World Presidents’ Organization (WPO). He has served on many not-for-profit boards and is a past president of Mayer Kaplan Jewish Community Center in Skokie, Am Yisrael Congregation in Northfield, and Green Acres Country Club in Northbrook.
His sports interests range from sailing on Lake Michigan to golf, tennis, scuba diving, and high school sports officiating. He and his wife Nancy have been married for 36 years; together they have two grown children and a granddaughter.
David is President and Chief Operating Officer of TPH, retail channel experts and global supplier of retail packaging and POP displays. As President and COO, David is responsible for the leadership and growth of TPH. David has 25+ years of experience and expertise in supporting clients, global supply chains, quality, retail programs and assorted strategic initiatives.
David’s focus is to make it easy for our clients and TPH to get their products to market. From time-to-time, he is asked to participate in clients’ planning meetings to consult with their design and operations teams to optimize their supply chains and improve the client’s overall efficiency. David’s team of production and retail channel experts have developed TPH’s global supply chain to support the ever-expanding global programs of our clients.
David holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Real Estate & Finance from the University of Denver and a Master of Business Administration from Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management. He is active in various not-for-profit board and leadership roles.
Stephen serves as VP Sales for TPH. Prior to that, Stephen worked as an engineer and project manager for Zenith and in Motorola’s TV division.After a brief stint in the insurance industry, Stephen was hired in 1977 as a purchasing agent by TPH founder Aaron Schmidt and then transitioned to customer service where he found that his strongest talents involve working with TPH clients and building new relationships for brand owners needing innovative retail POP displays and packaging solutions.
Stephen earned a BS in Electrical Engineering at Chicago Technical College and enjoys playing golf and visiting the theater.
