BJ’s Packaging & Display Guidelines
TPH Global builds and ships pallet displays to BJ’s and other warehouse clubs for brand managers of national brands and owners/executive management of emerging brands. Our clients sell footwear, apparel, socks, gloves, electronics, and packaged goods just to name a few.
Unless prescribed for specific products, BJ’s does not prescribe structural designs (e.g. primary packaging, dielines, printing plates, designs of walls and flutes, etc.) for packaging solutions. BJ’s expects you to provide cost-effective solution for primary packaging and club packaging while providing an effective merchandising presentation to our members for the following:
Warehouse club packaging is unique, including merchandising products on the 40″ side of a pallet and use of PDQ trays, for example. BJ’s recommends that you engage the expertise of a packaging engineer/designer with a specialty in club packaging and working knowledge of BJ’s merchandise strategies. This helps ensure that your packaging and shipments meets BJ’s requirements, is manufactured and shipped in a cost-effective manner and optimizes your sales opportunity at BJ’s.
BJ’s actively monitors all club packaging solutions throughout the supply chain to ensure that they protect product and provide an effective merchandise presentation for our members at the lowest cost possible. BJ’s expect our suppliers to actively participate in this process. Examples include:
- Presentation opportunities associated with 40″ side of pallets
- Structure of PDQ tray to address cost reduction and/or quality issues
- Design of PDQ trays to ensure that primary packaging is more visible and prominent and to improve ability to access or shop product
- Elimination of unnecessary packaging where possible (e.g. shipping covers, inserts)
- Changes in print method (e.g. direct vs. litho lamination)
There are many details specific to the variety of goods sold throughout BJ’s. We will provide you with the designs and renderings complete with all required details to receive BJ’s buyer approval.
